DAYTONA BEACH, FL (January 26, 2015) – The Daytona Beach Symphony Society (DBSS) is happy to announce that the next concert in our 63rd Season will be a performance by the Mariinsky Orchestra on
Tuesday, February 3rd, at Peabody Auditorium.
On a tour which includes 2 nights at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Mariinsky Orchestra is housed in St. Petersburg, and is one of the oldest musical institutions in Russia, having been founded in the 18th century during the reign of Peter the Great. Ignat Solzhenitsyn, one of today’s most gifted artists, conducts. He is the son of the Nobel Prize-winning author Alaksandr Solzhenitsyn. The program for the evening will feature Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Suite No. 3, Op. 101, and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 1, Op. 13.
